My kids absolutely love scavenger hunts. They request one for almost all of our walks and they are a great way to make a nature walk engaging for young children. I know firsthand the same scavenger hunt can get dull so I made eight different versions to keep things fresh. I hope you enjoy them as much as my family does.
Printable scavenger hunts are one of the most underrated activities or both young and older children. They get kids out in fresh air and turn a walk into a fun treasure hunt to explore the natural world. I think spring is one of the perfect time to get outside and encourage your kids to be little explorers. Spring offers the most variety of different animals, plants and overall variety of things to see.

Free Spring Scavenger Hunt List
I included 8 scavenger hunts in this free scavenger hunts pack. These can give your kids an extra challenge and I even made one for treats if you want to do an indoor one when the weather isn’t cooperating. You can always include different items by writing them in at the bottom if you want more variety or your kids loves a specific item and wants to search for it. I had so many spring scavenger hunt ideas which is why I went for 8 mini hunts versus a big one but you can totally make this into a spring scavenger hunt mini-book!

How do I use the Free Printable Spring Scavenger Hunt?
I use this fun activity in a variety of ways. Sometimes I pair it with a lesson or book. If we are doing a lesson on the first signs of spring then we might go out and test our observation skills with the spring adventure hunt which has a great variety. If just rained or we read bout rain we might use the spring showers one to build on that knowledge we just aquired.
I also just print these and have them on hand so we can take impromptu walks and let my kids pick which ones they want to do.
I also pair these walks with small items like binoculars, backpacks, bug catchers, or magnifying glasses to add a little, bit of fun.
You can use the same one multiple times until you see everything or get a new one every time.
I like to save paper and ink so I use these heavy-duty sheet protectors to slide them into and dry erase markers to write on the outside. A bonus for these is they are another interactive way to get kids writing and excited to do a scavenger hunt. You can also slide the marker in for when they are walking so it doesn’t get lost!
I love all the new life and warmer temperatures spring brings. It gets so humid where I am but all the budding flowers and green make it so worth it.
Thank you so much for being here in my little internet bubble and I wish you, your family, students, or partner all the love as you explore nature together soon!
